This structure is titled "The East Wind
Blowing Through A Greek Mask". It was
conceived for the decor of the play "La Maison
D'Os" in Paris, 1962.
Pedro Soler designed the wooden platforms and their
arrangement for the decor.
I designed and then fixed a grouping
of plastic tubes to these platforms
to form one big structure in
which the action took place.
The "Mask" hung in the middle of the array. It
was built with copper and brass wire.
To give it bulk, quick-solidifying liquid plastic
was dripped over the whole form.
There was a pleasant surprise when the spotlights
were first directed towards "The Mask". It seemed
as if the light came from within the object. The
plastic layer reflected the light.

In the title "The East Wind Blowing Through A
Greek Mask", the east wind refers to the wisdom of
eastern philosophy and the Greek mask refers to western
culture. This is just another way of saying
"interaction".
So you see, the object is one thing and the title
can be something else. In my latter works
the titles were mostly: dreaming, dream figure and
dream landscape. The idea is everybody dreams
so let everybody have the first shot at an
interpretation.
